Introduction

Quiz Mode has officially arrived on NoteKnight, introducing a new way to enjoy studying by automatically turning your flashcards into online tests. We studied how the largest platforms structured their quiz systems, identified where students get slowed down, and rebuilt the experience to be as intuitive as possible.

With Learn, Match, and now Quiz, NoteKnight offers a complete suite of online study tools.

Flashcard Quiz Generator

Quiz Mode has all the essentials students have to come to expect but redesigned for a smoother, more polished experience.

Choose Your Question Types

  • Multiple Choice
  • True/False
  • Written Answer

Than Customize Your Quiz

  • Generate questions from terms, definitions, or both
  • Shuffle or reverse question order
  • Set test length, from a single question to the entire deck

NoteKnight also automatically scans for incomplete cards and removes unusable ones, so you never run into blank questions or broken prompts. Everything just works, no micromanaging required.

Key Features

Smart Hints
Multiple choice questions can use a 50/50 hint that trims the options down to just two choices, while written-answer questions can reveal the first letter of the answer to nudge you in the right direction.

Optional Timer
If a ticking clock distracts you or creates anxiety, toggle it right off.

Autoscroll Control
Autoscroll is helpful...until you start backtracking. Turn it off to maintain full control and keep your focus.

Multilingual Text-to-Speech
The same high-quality TTS used throughout NoteKnight is built directly into Quiz Mode for spoken questions and explanations.

Question Navigator (Scroll-Spy)
Instead of a bulky sidebar, Quiz Mode uses a clean dropdown that always shows your current position. Tap any number to jump to another question instantly.

Review Tools

Finishing a quiz isn’t the end, it’s an opportunity to learn. Quiz Mode gives you tools to review, understand, and improve immediately.

Review Mode

  • Highlighted correct and incorrect answers
  • Clear indicators for skipped questions
  • Side-by-side comparisons for written answers (your response vs. expected answer)

Written-answer grading is intentionally relaxed, focusing on essential characters and core meaning rather than exact capitalization or punctuation. The goal is learning, not strict grading.

Retry Missed Questions
Generate a mini-test containing only the questions you missed. The timer starts back up, just like you returned to your desk to try again. Submit your answers and check to see if your grade improved!

Retake the Full Test
Restart your entire quiz instantly without losing your original test structure.

AI Explanations: Now Powered by ChatGPT-5

AI explanations received a nice upgrade. Quiz Mode now uses ChatGPT-5 to provide clearer, more structured, and more accurate explanations.

New improvements include:

  • Cleaner, easier-to-read formatting
  • Multilingual TTS playback
  • Better breakdowns for improved comprehension

Responsive Design

On mobile, Quiz Mode leans on a flexible, content-aware layout. The interface automatically determines the best arrangement for each screen size so questions, answers, and controls stay readable and comfortable without you having to pinch, zoom, or scroll sideways.

Images blend seamlessly into both questions and answers. Tap any image to instantly zoom and maximize it on screen, making visuals easy to see on any device.

User-Requested Features

One of the best parts of NoteKnight’s growth has been hearing from you directly. Your feedback is shaping the future of the platform, and several highly requested features are already planned for early next year.

Planned 2026 Features (no particular order)

  • Deck Cloning — Duplicate any deck to reorganize or share variations
  • Folder Sharing — Share entire collections at once
  • Printable Flashcards — Export clean, print-ready layouts
  • Searchable Flashcards — Browse decks created by other users
  • LaTeX Support — Add mathematical notation and equations
  • Favoriting Flashcards — Mark important cards for quick review

Thank you for the ideas, encouragement, and all the love. NoteKnight is growing because of this community, and these features will exist because you asked for them.

Giving Back: Help 4 Kids Fundraiser

This season, NoteKnight raised just over $500 for Help 4 Kids. Because of your subscriptions, shares, and support, we slightly exceeded our goal.

Giving back has always been a core value at NoteKnight. As we build tools for learners online, we also want to support learners in the real world. Thank you for helping make that possible.

Other Updates

Alongside Quiz Mode, we shipped several global improvements across the site:

  • Fixed formatting issues in the export tool (all export types now consistent)
  • Improved spacing, color consistency, and layout across pages
  • Rebranded Memorize to Learn for unified mode naming
  • Simplified sharing by removing the old share-link system

Quiz Mode marks a step forward for NoteKnight. Faster, cleaner, and designed around real student feedback. Whether you’re preparing for exams, creating classroom material, or studying on the go, Quiz Mode brings a calmer, more enjoyable testing experience to every learner.
